Cultural Factors:
Because of Haiti's massive population, it makes the chance of having a Natural Hazard higher and more extreme. Natural Hazard is when an extreme natural event causes a damage to people and properties and become a calamity.
We all know that Haiti is really populated compared to it's size. More people mean more building like places where people live or shelter, schools. recreational centers, offices and many more. When a calamity strikes, there will be a lot more buildings and properties that will be affected compared to places that has a natural environment. In addition, let's say the 2010 earthquake, when the buildings fell off and broke, a lot of people got trapped inside the house and died and some were hit by falling debris etc. So the population is proportional to the number of properties in terms of the damage a calamity can cause.
